Have a Nice Day

Have a Nice Day is a 2017 Chinese thriving dark comedy film directed by Liu Jian. It premiered in the main competition for the Golden Bear at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival in February 2017. It is Liu Jians second feature film, taking into consideration his debut Piercing I. The film, mostly done by Liu himself, took three years to unyielding. Its hardly the first place youd expect a Goethe insinuation, but the fizzy, 80s-influenced synthpop atmosphere that closes Liu Jians living Berlin competition title Have a Nice Day (written, plus all the films irresistible soundtrack cues, by composer David Liang of the Shanghai Restoration Project) does feature the chorus extraction, I am the sorrows of youngster Werther. But later, incongruity is sort of the post of the game here: Lius storyline may be a outrage and generic madcap gangster/hitman/robber movie, but the details of aesthetic design and feel relationships flesh it out into something a tiny more wittily resonant, if not exactly deep. The acid inventiveness of the deliberately premeditated form doesnt just compensate for the banality of the content, it becomes the content.
